A Challenging Quote From Paul the Apostle

Jim June 5, 2022 Church Work, Theology

from paul the apostleJesus is our Lord and Savior. Paul the Apostle is an example to follow. Let’s take on these words from Paul the Apostle.

19 Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

In some circles, people ask the pastor to pray for the as he is nore holy. Or have the pastor baptize for he is somehow closer to God.

Here is the Apostle Paul in weakness asking for his spiritual children to pray for him. Who are they to pray for the Apostle? They are children of God just like him.

Paul is in prison for spreading the gospel. His prayer is not that he gets out of prison but rather that he would have courage to spread the gospel in this hostile environment in prison. Spreading the gospel in prison will increase the chance that he never gets out. He does not care. He is about the kingdom of God and nothing else.

God help us follow you like this. May we see brothers and sisters as our equals before God. We must not put any famous people on pedestals or look down on people who seem to be not as mature Christians as we see ourselves as.

Passion from Paul the Apostle

Then may we put expanding the kingdom above personal discomfort. If someone asks you what you did yesterday, you can say you read the Bible and played with the kids as well as stared at your cell phone too long. You do not have to share too much at once. Just set the bait and see if someone bites. May wife was reached by someone who said, “I have two fathers.” Let’s fish away.

Pray for people and opportunities to do such fishing. That is what Paul did. He changed the world.
