Good Friday is the Fulcrum of History

Good friday is the fulcrum of history
The Cross is Central to World History

What is the most important date in world history? To me everything changed on the day Jesus died. Occurring in roughly 30 AD that date, Good Friday is the Fulcrum of History.  Let me do an aside.

Jesus Birth is not the Main Thing

In 525 AD, a monk named Dionysius Exiguus of Scythia Minor set the date 1 AD for the birth of Christ and the beginning of the Year of our Lord. That became popular for all of Europe of several hundred years.

If I could set the date, I would say Jesus death is January 1 of year Zero of the GF time standard. Jesus opened a path to eternity for all Humanity on that terrible wonderful afternoon.

A Prayer

Thank you Lord for going through with taking on the wrath of God the Father for the sin we have and do. You did for us what we could not do for you.

Moreover, the fall of man when Eve ate the fruit and Adam stood next to her and did it with her was a great tragedy.  The next 2000 years was a very important preamble.See also From Abraham to Us. Jesus on Earth was opening the door to really know the Creator, but the fall meant we were all far from God.

Focus is What We Need

Jesus did not come primarily to help us know God or get his great teaching. He came to die in place of sinful man. 1 Billion sinners now say they follow this guy, and he world has really been moved by what he did on that Friday.  He has followers now in every nation.

No one can connect with the Creator without that dark Friday. The main event comes after Jesus dies. His death for us is the main thing.  Jesus moved the whole world when he died. His death opened the door. God did not tear the curtain in the Holy of Holy’s when he raised Jesus from the dead. As Jesus said, the Holy Spirit would now come until his work was finished. The non Jews would have a chance. You changed the world that Friday. Can we live in the light of what happened that Friday and know we have good news to bring to a fallen world?

Let us all pray.

Lord you humbled ourself to open my eyes. You paid the price for my selfish life. I am so sorry I sent you to that Cross. You proved that you loved me. Further, you are the one who gave the world meaning. Take my life and use it as you will. You certainly gave me your life for exactly what I needed. I am glad to give my life for what will glorify you.

Good Friday is the Fulcrum of History for Good Reason

Finally, it is Resurrection Day as I write which is certainly a great day. I pray that every other day would be good Friday for us all. It is the most important day we ever had or will have. Let us not lose sight of it in any way.
