Hold the Cross High

If anyone is an evangelist it is my dear sweet wife.
The world has more light because of her.
People see her with the kids and ask why they are like that and leads to someone getting faith.
For a house keeper who works part time for us, she opened the topic of faith here and there and then had our friends lead her into the kingdom.
Guy comes by to install a new floor, and she will find a way to tell them we are Christians.
She does not hand out tracks on the street. She just brings it up and is never pushy.
Let’s Hold the Cross High
I have some old stories that often remind me of who God is.
In college, an old roommate of mine who I had not seen in a year was on his bed looking at a pornagraphic magazine. I stood far from him and chatted. Then I said, “Would you like to study the Bible with me?” He said Yes. To hear more of the story see Reload.
In the officer advanced course in the US Army in 1991, I was playing soccer and resting. I started to talk to the Filipino officer. (Yes, another Filipino story) We chatted, and I mentioned what I had read in the Bible that day. In fact, Carlito was lonely in America, and I insensitively ignored him. He went back to his room and read his Bible all the time. Later he thanked me for helping him become a Christian. I was shocked as all I had said was I read the Bible and how valuable it was to me.
God is bigger than we are. Even bigger than our selfishness.
As an English teacher in China we often told students about our faith. No one believed. One day I told two girls who were juniors that I was suffering from a lot of doubt in God at that time. They immediately came to faith. It was not our strength that reached them but our vulnerablity. See also The Cross is Not a Lesson We Studied.
God help us to not edit God out of our conversations, but naturally tell people we believe or that we prayed today or read the Bible or what not. God help us to hold the Cross High wherever we go.
