In the Beginning God

Jim August 10, 2025 Church Work, Culture/Sociology Issues, Theology

int he beginning GodIn the beginning God – is a shocking way to begin the Bible. It is so iconic that I think most English speakers can finish the phrase. Here is no explanation and no intro for the Creator of the universe. God, in fact, has never needed an introduction.

I see that people everywhere have used God’s name in vain as are reaching for power that everyone knows of deep in their spirit.

When I started witnessing in China to Atheist people, I felt they would struggle to know how great He is. In fact, it seems they already know. Just say he is Creator, and conceptually it all makes sense.

It is so shocking to me. G0d is known. He is more iconic then the biggest celebrity. So, he walks in the room and seems to say- “I existed before the unverse. You cannot fully know me. but you should take a step back, and know the awesomeness.” Here is one who knows where we came from and has the power to end the unverse He started.  All this we can discern in just the first 4 words of the Bible.

In the Beginning God is a Big Way of Entering Only He Can Do

I cannot say “in the beginning Jim” like God does in any way.

Only God can enter in this way without speaking nonsense. God need make no apology.

In Revelations, God says He is the Alpha and Omega. In the first 4 words in Genesis, God already made that claim.

When Judas Iscariot tries to force Jesus to show his power, it is nonsense. Jesus later rebukes the disciples and says he could call 12 legions of Angels to save Him.

It is no surprise when God gives his name to Moses and says I AM. God can only be iconic.

We could all use our deep heart to meditate on these 4 words. We, like Job, need to stand silent in awe before God.
