Jesus Is a Bad Compromiser, But We Must Not Be

Jim December 8, 2024 About Me, Family Issues, Theology

Jesus is a bad compromiser, but we must notHave you noticed that Jesus is a bad compromiser? So, we should be too? Lets pause and think on that.

Why does Jesus not compromise? He is filled with spirit and truth. We are compromised with subjectivity even when we are quoting the Bible.  Now, by personality I am quite black and white. I have put my foot down too many times when I was trapped in my own biased judgment. God sees this and frowns.

It is quite rare when we need to stand. How many times has a guy offered me illegal drugs? I did have to delete and block a pornographic text I got yesterday.  So, yes, sometimes it is critical to not  compromise.

However, a dispute with my wife is another story.  God calls me to love her like Jesus loves the Church. I am selfish in almost every dispute I have with her. This is no tine for me to be a stubborn man.

Yes, many times we do not see that our selfishness and personal bias are making us unloving. Jesus could unload on people because he knew them perfectly. We cannot, and we also do not see ourselves well enough.

Jesus is a Bad Compromiser and That Has Little To Do With Us

Jesus is our Savior. He is not our example to follow in some cases as he is God and we are not. The apostles are better examples for us.

We should seek to know people well enough before we try to give any advice. Ask first even at that point. Note that you may be wrong. We are not infallible. As believers, we should not stand above others.

We definitely need to check to see if the log is out of our own eye and get advise. Never forget to love one another. Let’s grant grace to those closest to us even as we received grace from God . Let’s watch our stubbornness closely. We are not Jesus.
