Let’s Make Room For Joy

Jim October 28, 2023 About Me, Theology

make room for joyThe Bible says “Rejoice always” in open of the shortest and most useful verses in the Bible. Despite too much thought on the fruit of the Spirit being singular, I sense anyone who can manage all 9 is remarkable. Today, let’s make room for joy.

Talking with my son in college in the US,  He said he needs to stop putting his joy in some future like after he gets married or something.   Ah, well said. the Kingdom of God is not about tomorrow. Every day there are points of joy in Christ that we can grasp. Let’s do it.

I like a hot shower, but how long has is been since I rejoiced even a little for that hot morning shower. My wife is recovering from getting sick; I read the Bible this morning; and I had a good breakfast with my wife. Then, my son called. My youngest daughter did well on her saxophone solo last night. Also, I got a good video of it. Its a Saturday morning.. God loves me.

Let’s Make Room For Joy – Jesus Will Be Glad

Jesus wants us to grasp joy, and it is all around us. I recounted happy things here, but did I find joy in the moment? A little.

I tend to be task oriented, so I catch myself checking the box too often. Take a shower, check. Eat breakfast, check. Start my blog, check . Where is my joy in the moment?  God loves us in the here and now, and we can rejoice in all we see before us.

So, I will pray that my son can find joy in many places in each day and not live in drudgery waiting for some far off joy. But I also will pray and seek to claim the joy that God has put before me with a thankful heart. I will pray for you as well. Joy is hard to grasp. Let us grasp it for God and His glory. We can even do it with a smile.
