Light and Momentary Troubles
I often feel heavy about troubles or even the future. Recently, my son decided to memorize virtually all of 2 Corinthians 4 He recited it to me and I heard:
Our light and momentary troubles
This is from verse 17.
In Chapter 4, Paul notes our precious lives are held in jars of clay. He says we are wasting away each day.
Then, he says we have light and momentary troubles.
Thank you God for this important reminder that we face light and momentary troubles. I often feel heavy and think my our problems around me are heavy and burdensome.
That’s what I would have wrote after saying we are wasting away each day— that we have heavy and burdensome troubles.
Paul wrote,
We are being renewed day by day.
And then goes on to say light and momentary troubles.
Thank you dear Lord for this precious truth.
Let’s just say we are dying. Paul can say it is a light and momentary trouble. The whole of scripture says that is light and momentary.
Paul says in Philippians that
To live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Yes, momentary troubles inside our glorious life and glorious future.
Light and Momentary Troubles Are All We Face
Can we see how glorious our life is?
Each day like Paul, we can represent Christ and his love and grace to a dying and empty world. We are his ambassadors. In prayer, we can tear down strongholds.
We can have health problems, marriage problems, financial problems, and trying times in prayer. However, these are light and momentary problems in light of the Cross, and yes, in sight of the Resurrection. God loves us and is making a place for us. That is not momentary. In truth it is more solid than the best built building.
Let’s hold high the Cross. It is hope and life in a burdensome and heavy world. Everyone needs this message of joy that we do not need to hold the burdens anymore. We have been set free.
Can you feel the burdens getting lighter? Can you see the light in the distance?
We are set free. Let’s throw off the weight of heavy thoughts and see life as it really is.
