A Pearl of Great Price

Jim November 3, 2024 About Me, Theology

Can you imagine a pearl of great price? I cannot, but Jesus told a story of a man who did. He searched for such a pearl and knew it when he found it

45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. 46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

He sold everything he had. When I help people know God, I sometimes take out a clean sheet of paper and say:  What Jesus means is just sign at the bottom and trust him to fill in all that goes above. Yes, Jesus is the pearl. Everything we have, and everything we might plan belongs to him. We are his workmanship. He knows the way we need. He can fill in the blank page better than we can.

A Pearl of Great Price and Much More

God can fill up the empty bank account. Actually, God owns every bank and country. Yet, he calls us to much more. He calls us to join his kingdom and enjoy much more than money can buy.

His forgiveness and love are beyond measuring, and his example and call lead us to better ourselves all our lives. Thus, we can be like him and his Kingdom culture.

Are you ready to sign the blank sheet again?

He again and again has more for us. Trials (do you remember pure joy?) and blessings in the positive side.  He longs to make us more and more in His image. We can rejoice in our growth and relationship with God and others, We never have to look down or up to others again. We have entered anew kingdom where we see all in the true image of God in them.

Glorious, come and sign, or sign again. His love though often beyond understanding will bless us to the very end of our days – and then forever. Go head and sign again. This pearl has value beyond measure.
