Atheism and the Unseen

Jim March 1, 2020 Theology

faith hope love atheism and the unseen Atheism and the unseen means they have a problem with the unseen. We Christians often get confused too. What is unseen is greater than what is seen. May we believe.

Atheism and the Unseen are Not Friends

I moved to China in 1991. China is a very pragmatic country that accepted atheism as its state religion. Atheism teaches that matter is the source of life and all we know.  They say matter has the power to evolve in all ways to develop life and the universe. The deny the unseen. However, hope, peace, and joy are unseen and beyond measure. They say that love is simply a material chemical reaction in our brains. we know it is much more and no drug can replace true love.

Luke 17:21 says the kingdom of God is not seen it is in your midst. In 2 Corinthinians 4:18 it says:

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

It is hard for us to grasp this unseen world. As Christians, we can see that unseen and immeasurable things are the most important.  Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control are examples.

Of course the most important is our unseen creator God who is more real than love. He had to be behind all these great unseen things.

How are we Christians too much in the seen?

We forget that God is always among us. Further, Christians forget that who we are in Christ is more important than any other factor. We fail to see each person as beautiful in God’s sight.  We even judge people by appearances. God help us.

We Christians should be realists and not deny the seen and science and the news for example. We should always love more. Foremost, we should always have faith that the unseen is for us when we choose to love.
