Do We Get Lucky?

Luck does not appear in the words of the Bible, but do we get lucky?
This week with my teennage daughter, we read.
… I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.
20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Do We Get Lucky – Way More Than Lucky
Wow, it is fun to also see this through her younger eyes. How great is God? What are we saying or thinking when we hope to get lucky? We are saying that we do not believe in an all loving God who has total power and a deep heart to love us rightly.
When we are step better, we are trying to convince God to love us better by giving us some thing we want. I am often in this space.
Finally, we can arrive at believing that God’s unfathomable love is with us working constantly to bring us what we deeply need. We then pray, not to twist our Heavenly Father’s arm, but rather to join with him.
Think how far that is from a hope for luck. We do not need to condemn ourselves when we feel this way. However, we ought to see how far we are from the riches of Christ when we are in this frame. We can praye about it and God can lead us to better place by a better means then condemnation. See also about Faith Hope and Love on Contact Page.
He has more for us when we can grasp how long and wide and high and deep his love is.
