Let’s Make Disciples

Making Disciples is a command from Jesus after His resurrection.
18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
These words inspired me, so I memorized them in High School. I can never forget. In college, I met a premium discipleship organization, the Navigators. Campus Crusade is good at evangelism, but the Nav’s rocked in discipleship.
So, for good material on Discipleship, Navpress.com. You may you also find some in this blog, but I am ever impressed by the Navigators despite not being close to them due to my location here in China.
Make Disciples of All Nations
Back to the topic. Jesus did not say to convert the world. He said to make disciples in every nation.
A disciple has mature thinking and activity in the Bible, fellowship, prayer and outreach.
So, a person who has just prayed to receive Christ usually has none of these. They may be more or less ready to move on one or more area. See what God is already moving in them. A key early step is establishing a quiet time. They need to know God more to follow him.
Sending this link above is not usually enough. Prepare thoughts on how you do quite time, and think how you can bring such a topic to life.
Life on life is the best way to help people to have the desire to grow. Share your life, the successes and the failures. Ask them what they want to do, and how they think God looks at it. Have fun and not just be academic. A relationship with God is more than books and so should our discipleship work.
How about you start praying for someone to disciple? God wants it to happen, so ask Him. God knows who is ready.
