When Things Go Wrong, Life is Hard
Life is no picnic. Not only are there sinners all around us, but we have devious sin within us. The result is, when things go wrong, that we often feel life is too hard. After, we realize a lot.
When Things God Wrong, God is With Us
Let’s look at Proverbs 3:11 which
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline,
and do not resent his rebuke,
because the Lord disciplines
God loves us enough to turn the screw tighter and tighter on us. He keeps turning the screw until he has achieved in us what he sees he can.
At the same time, he promises In 2 Cor 1:3-7:
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 5 For just as we share abundantly in the sufferings of Christ, so also our comfort abounds through Christ. 6 If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
He also says,
In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
So God disciplines us, comforts us as necessary, and assures us that life is hard, and it will be ok because He is in charge.
God often withholds comfort to grow us just a little more.
Dawn Will Come, God Has a Good Plan
Finally, he notes that the world is a mess, and we will suffer harm, but we have a home beyond this place that is beyond this problem.
That does not mean that the myriad and one on top of the other problems we often encounter are easy to bear. They change us for good if we allow just because they are so overwhelming.
Let us lift our heads and know that God is with us even in the darkness of our difficulties. He knows and cries with us even as He turns the screws because loves us so.
Never give up hope for the light, the light will dawn.
