Was God Lonely?

Jim January 28, 2024 About Me, Church Work, Culture/Sociology Issues, Theology

was God lonelyGod created us, and it definitely makes him happy. However, was God lonely? Loneliness is a human problem. The word bored was first used in 1750 AD. Lonely was 1556 AD. So, we could argue that English was growing as a language at this time, but we can also note that the human problem was changing. People gaining wealth were losing relationship and connection. Developing was not all to the good.

So, people in 1500 AD in England would not ask if God was lonely. Let’s as modern people look from the viewpoint of this modern construct.

Being alone and being lonely are not the same thing. I have been learning to be with God and meditate when alone. We have no need to be lonely, as we are always with God, or at least He is with us.  Can we reach out to a God who longs to respond to our loneliness. My Grandmother lived alone for 20 years and remarked that she was never lonely as God was always with her.

The Muslim God is alone and has been for all eternity. He was not with God as I can be. Would he have been lonely?

Is God Lonely or Does He Solve Lonely?

Our God  is a Triune God. Three “friends” that are so close that you cannot find any gap between them. They have perfect harmony. They were not lonely but filled with love to give, and so, here we are. We are not giving a lonely God company but rather reveling in a God who has so much for us.

So , if you are lonely, do not project that onto Him. God is not lonely, but he helps us feel lonely and in hopes we will turn to him. So, in our loneliness. let us turn to God who longs to comfort us and be with us in our loneliness.

Our God made us with many emotions and many can help us turn to Him if we listen to them.
