Learning the Lighter Side of Life in Christ

learning the lighter sideBy personality, I tend to not have much confidence in the future. This tends to make me more serious and concerned than many others. Like them, I tend to get weary of this heavy life only I live with it 24/7. I  need some time on the lighter side. Learning the lighter side of life is a project of mine.

First let’s come back to Philippians 4:8,9.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. 9 Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.

Now, this is not all lighter or frivolous. However, it is a breath of fresh air after the disturbing times we have had politically in the US.

Then, there is the piece in Mt 11:19 that shows that Jesus is different than me.

The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Here is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.’ But wisdom is proved right by her deeds.”

Jesus even changed water to lots of wine for people who have already had too much to drink.

I drink about 2 glasses of beer a year always socially. I think people would mark me closer to John the Baptist.

I have been to events where people went to drink to help them get past their worries.  I was not a guy they would invite a second time as I was not a lot of fun. Jesus could clearly get invited again. He was more fun than me somehow.

Ah, Learning the Lighter Side of Life

So it is not wrong for me to be the serious person that God made me to be.  However, he expects me to grow and not be that way 24/7. Jesus could be serious and not always fun for example. For me it is like learning to speak a foreign language. I learned to speak Chinese 25 years ago, but it will never be my native language. I learned to speak a form of NF personality conversationally, and so could marry Jo, but will never use like Jo. See also God Gave Me Life.

I really need to speak ESFP conversationally with my teenagers now. That is a light heartedness I have much work to reach.

I also prayer journal each morning as some of you may know. I need to journal/pray about the lighter side more as well.

So here is to the lighter side of life.
