Revealed to Little Children
Who grows in faith, and becomes the person God wants? The gospel is revealed to little children..
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
Notably the text says little children. We all need to be 3 year olds all our lives. Compared to our Heavenly Father, we are rarely even 3 years old. The problem is we act bigger, and then the Kingdom is withheld from us.
Little children learn hundreds of words every day. They learn, for better or worse, how to live life from watching their parents every day.
We need to always be this way with our Heavenly Father. God turns away from the proud and toward the humble learning children.
How can we do this? We need to be learning and looking up to everyone. Everyone has something to teach us if we are able to seek it. God is speaking to us through our whole life day by day. Yes, we need to spend time in the Bible listening to God and feeling His pulse. God is speaking. Can we lower ourselves to hear Him?
The Kingdom is Revealed to Little Children. Is That Us?
We are too proud, and we know all. Thus, we learn nothing.
How can we grow without emptying ourselves and seeing Glory in each person and event around us? Yrs, let us be little children.
Little children make mistakes every day. They must often apologize. They lack power, and so must submit. God is gentle with us, but he wants us to see the truth of how small we are and how infinitely valuable we are. We are powerless and know nothing, yet feel so full – full of ourselves.
God help each of us to be as little children more and more often, that we might not drive you off with our false pride. You are high and exalted. May we bow down before you and those you created each day. This is our glory. Only God can grow this in us. Let us commune with Him and grow.
