Sign the Blank Paper
Committing ourselves to God’s care is much like He is asking you to sign the blank paper for your life and trust him to fill in all the details.
Previously, I wrote that God knows best. He knows me better than I know myself is so true. Yes, and he cares for all the people. It will not due to have you tell God what is best for your life. You do not know what it will look like 20 years from now.
I moved to China in 1991, and left behind everything and everyone. I knew so little, and wasted some time as did not talk enough to others. However, I did trust God. Today, some 35 years later, God has given me a family and friends in this far off land. I could not have thought of a result as good as this. It is a great life when we let God choose the way forward. He sees it better than us.
My children grew up in a strange country that had become my home. They never could go to the prom, join the boy scouts or play on a baseball team. However, I shared my life and this adventure with them. I did not sacrifice them, but rather blessed them as God wanted me to love them and not just China. They did join my adventure and saw a world that I could not have dreamed to show them in my life in US.
Let’s Sign the Blank Paper Again and Again
I would not trade them for any kids anywhere. Now, they left us to go to college in the US and find God’s life for themselves. My wife and I are on our own here and still doing God’s work. My kids are far away in US colleges.
So, what can I say? People who came to faith in the town I came from also were signing the blank paper and trusting God to fill it in with his wisdom and love.
Whether people believe or are atheists, their life is actually in God’s hands. God lives and his truths are real truths. He knows the best way. In this life we will have trouble, and none of us will get out of it alive.
My great grandfather gave up on trusting God when his wife died and left him with a mitt full of kids at home. (Later my great grandmother saved my father – and me) My wife is sitting across from me humming and hand copying Bible verses even now. I have no right to judge my great grandfather. However, God did not promise us we all would be healthy or all believe. He said he would always love us and show us the next step. Let’s keep signing that blank piece of paper and believing God at his word.
