God Gave Us Important Work

Jim July 16, 2023 Church Work, Theology

god gave us important workGod gave us important work. When God decided to make us his children, he did not simply make us cupids with harps. He made us partners in reaching the world for Christ. God loves us. He doesn’t just save us and set us aside while He works.

He gave us meaning in life. We are not left to grow up, marry, have kids, get old and die. We can take part in the most important work in heaven and earth. The pagans have to struggle day after day to not think deeply as their lives are meaningless. If they go to the moon,  so what. Finally, they know the Earth will be destroyed, and all will be nothing. They also face: How did the world wind its way up to a no entropy world? If not it could not be winding down to nothing? The one time winding down of the universe they see is darker and darker the more they look. Or they face death is the end, so why care? It leads to shallow lives. So sorry for them.

God Gave Us Important Work As He Loves Us

However, people are saved or lost for all eternity. God could use angels to do all the work, or he could directly.

Moreover, he wanted to give us meaning, so he left critical work to us. Can we escape our short term life concerns to enter the work of reaching the world for Christ? There are 8 Billion people who will die in the the next 80 years. The cause could not be more urgent and God sets the task before us in each generation.

The path to each heart is God’s love moving through us. People need the love and light we have, but most are closed to it until some certain time when they are open to sensitive input.

Matthew 28:18-20 says:

18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

I Peter 3:15 says:

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

Thank you God for a job to do and guidance with it.
