Let Us See What Love Can Do
George Fox founded the Quakers, and He and William Penn developed the Quakers together. One issue was they espoused pacifism and from that came a quote from William Penn. “Let us see what love can do.” In their old English it may originally have been “Let us then try what Love will do”
I am not Quaker, but named this blog main thing as see each denomination has something good from God within them. Even non Christian religions like Buddhism have truth in them, or it could not be as well known as it is.
Now, back to “Let us see what love can do.”
Americans took land from Native Americans commonly, but William Penn bought the land for Philadelphia at market prices.
He acted from love while other purported Christians used greed and principle. In our own times, we might also learn from William Penn. What can love do is a phrase reaching for an aspect of God that we ought always to put front and center.
Each person we need lacks love and needs more love from God. We can often be His hands, feet, ears and voice when our goal is to give the love we first got from God.
Love is a good antidote for so many things in our life, and we often do not reach for it either at home or in culture.
Hatred, enmity and revenge are not for us. Love can do so much
George Fox said we each have light from God. It is not just the holy man. God lives within in us and among us. We are not alone. He loves even the unlovely and can help us to choose love.
It is super human, but we can rise again to love and draw people to the light we ourselves have found. How unending is its light. In the darkest places, it shines the brightest, Yes, let us see what love can do.
