Gentleness is a Super Power From God

Gentleness is a super power from God that we need to grasp. Anger feels more empowering. but forms of the word gentle occur 30 times in the Bible. Most of those times are found in the New Testament. Can we trust God and choose gentle to make a better world with God’s wisdom?
God saved us when he said revenge belongs to him. That is a first step. Someone hurts us, and we attack them back. Oops, no revenge says God. God forces us to choose something else. I found God gives us gentleness as a super power of His kingdom.
Galatians 6 has a well known thought on winning back a lost sheep.
Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted.
Here, lets keep talking about gentleness. You are fighting with a friend, and you lecture him. That will not solve it. Gentleness leaves us to choose to softly understand the other person and gently defuse it by thus defusing the fight. Anger just adds to the fire.
Gentleness is a Super Power From God We All Need to Grasp
Gentleness feels so week. God help us. The Apostle Paul says,
That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Let’s choose the “weaker” tool. It is God’s tool and makes room for God. Revenge belongs to God.
Look at the Beatitudes.
3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.
5 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they will be filled.
7 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
8 Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.
9 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called children of God.
10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Just see the picture Jesus creates, and lets not weaponize these beautiful words.
These words create a gentle picture. Let’s choose the softer emotions like gentleness. Actively choosing to choose the gentle path is an active way to cool things down. Saying, “Calm down” may not help, but you seeing the other person instead of attacking them often can. We can gently seek to resolve the hostile in Jesus name. We need to take God at his word and live out the values of the Kingdom. (now there is a place for anger but it is rare and highly limited)
As we enter into kingdom values, we can let God transform us inwardly while we seek him on this issue. We just keep confessing our gap in gentleness.
