God Knows Best

Jim December 21, 2025 Culture/Sociology Issues, Theology

God knows bestGod knows best is not a new idea, but I want to give it some life even after talking about this a few weeks ago. It is common for people to come to Christ with wrong first steps.  They see that God could make them powerful or win the lottery. Gradually, they find a God that is infinitely better.

A problem for people coming to faith can be giving up control. We want to be God over our own lives and not let someone we do not know very well take charge.  They feel “Surely, I know myself best.” or “I trust myself as I have gotten this far.”

These are all understandable concerns. God shows them he is trustworthy if they care to see.

Can we Christians face this question well?

The Creator God of the universe and of me as well certainly knows me better then I know myself. In Christ, I am blessed to see myself better than when I was not in Christ. Can I bare it?

I have dreams for my life, but his dreams are better.

God Knows Best – Can I Trust Him?

God loves us is a key piece. Can he make sure things work out the way we want to. God has bigger dream than that for us. Can we trust him?

We also harm ourselves by our decisions. The good news is God can redeem our mistakes. We have a very competent Father.

God will not always make us comfortable as He loves us. He is here to comfort us when we are hurt. When God forces my hand, so I have to do something that I do not want, I am sometimes mad even though I am right where God wants me. I usually will not let myself be comforted then.

If I am running from God like Jonah on some issue, than God will definitely not be comforting me. He will love me enough to make me uncomfortable.
