What Can We Do With Pressure?

Jim May 12, 2024 Church Work, Culture/Sociology Issues, Family Issues, Theology

what can we do with pressureWhat can we do with pressure in our life before God? Jesus said very clearly that we do not need to worry as he loves us.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[a]?

He first died for us, so that we could live in his love and acceptance and not live to try to prove ourselves to him.

Think of the prostitute, the prodigal son, and the tax collector. How about the guy on the cross next to Jesus? The heavy lifting was these people were vulnerable. They were real before Jesus. He did not need their efficient life.  God wanted them and us to rest in his love.

Furthermore, he said that we should be like little children.  Let’s all take a breath. It’s no surprise they called it good news.

What Can We Do With Pressure? Live in God’s Love

God asks us to live as dearly loved children. We have the inheritance Paul writes.

We do not expect little children to perform (in a healthy family). They just grow and learn under loving parents.

Are we valuable? Does our Creator love us? Yes! Jesus added the exclamation point when he died on a cross thus showing how much he loved us just they way we are. See this in Romans 5:

6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

I am reminded that the Bible in Thessalonians says a lot in a few words

16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.

God wants it to be that easy for us. Yet, Jesus knew it would not be easy for us.

Jesus knew the best thing for our heart would be gratitude. He gave us a reason to have it.

We are OK. Jesus forgives our repentant heart and wants us to forgive ourselves as he is a better judge than we are. He made us, and He knows. Yes, Jesus went to the Cross for many reasons, but one is he knew we needed to be loved and to live a thankful life. It is so good for us and brings life to us and those around us. Let us receive the good news.

God help us live in this much life and light.
