What More Do We Need to Give to God?

Jim June 21, 2026 About Me, Culture/Sociology Issues, Family Issues, Theology

Let's give to God

I started writing my sisters as the 75th wedding anniversary of my deceased parents is coming up. I realized that I was still mad at them, All children have been hurt by their parents in some ways. My parents were no better or worse than others, but I had to go to God to forgive them as I should not hold my anger, but let God handle the justice my anger seeks. However, what more do I need to give to God?

Well, I thought I was all good, but need to go to God once more to not let bitterness grow. This kind of sin within us is pernicious. Let us go to God who knows best.

Let’s Give to God What Only He Can Handle Well

Bitterness is the sure result of holding our anger when we cannot seek resolution with that person. We need to let go and let God be God and be the judge over this thing. I am preaching to myself as I write.

God says clearly that revenge belongs to him as is bad for us. Let’s not hold anger that we need to let God handle.  He knows what proper justice looks like.

I love my parents. They were good and wise in a lot of ways in how they treated me. However, like all parents, they had places where they missed the mark and left me with hurts that it was hard to sort out. How can I be mad at the people who gave all to raise me? That bad feeling or snide remark or other sign needs looking into. Other times, we need to ask our spouse or a trusted elder to help us see what we might be holding.

Don’t let secrets within us damage our lives or even those around us. Buried is not dead when it comes to these hurts. I have encouraged my children to come back to us after they have moved away to unload places where we hurt them. Two of three have to great effect. We are still waiting for the third to unload on us.
