Let’s Take God at His Word

Jim May 3, 2026 Theology

take God at his word God made and sustains the whole universe and loves us so. A piece of wisdom then is to take God at His Word.

God definitely knows best as he is the one who made us and all we see — and not see.

Believing God is countercultural and should be. We do not have to fight with the culture, but we should not follow the culture around us.

As an example, God says to rest on the sabbath, and to treat your wife like Jesus treated the church.

My kids in high school were super busy, so I taught them to rest on the sabbath as God made the sabbath for us. They could find rest when they could apply this. God’s design works.

When I learned to die to my wife instead of stand for my rights, my marriage got better. God designed us, and knows how we tick.

When we just believe him, he can take us farther. I have said that we need to trust God for something practical.

Can We Just Take God at His Word?

What are you relying on God for? We are not just living ethical religious lives. We serve a living God who is powerful and loving.

Do we believe this?  We ask people who have not believed God to ask God to show them He is real.  God shows himself to those who seek him. He is alive.

Why would we trust the world and our own wisdom when we know the creator of the heavens and the earth? We cannot know tomorrow and yet we trust ourselves more?

We are not orphans. Let us connect with God and find him. Sometimes, if we are standing on one verse, we may be missing God’s intent. However, we are small children before God, and He will lead us. It may be bumpy at times, but he will guide us to Himself.
