Why Does Jesus call a LITTLE Child?
Now, I try not to tread where the Bible does not speak. However, the Bible does not answer, “Why Does Jesus call a little child?” First let me list the passage
2 He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. 3 And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
I want to note again that Jesus calls a little child. Little children are the best learners in the world. They learn 80 words a day for example. Everyone is bigger than them and knows more, and they learn as much as they can.
This is the ideal way to live the Christian life. Be quick to listen and quick to learn. Be a sponge. People around us have a lot of experiences and insights that we can learn from. God personally has much to teach us if only we long to hear from him.
The Bible says we are to consider others better than ourselves. This is much easier as a little child. Jesus is not talking about thinking we are worthless. We need, in Christian love, to see the value of each person around us. Certainly, this includes to learn to love and follow God more as Jesus indicates above.
How blessed is such a person. Further, how blessed are we when others are really waiting on our every word snd drawing us out for more. The world and God’s Kingdom needs this.
Why Does Jesus call a LITTLE Child? Jesus Sees Us Well
Our Heavenly Father wants us to grow up in His Kingdom. We cannot know the entirety of who He is in lur limited sinful world. We need to see ourselves as children all our lives, but more specifically see ourselves as little children of our Heavenly Father.
Jesus calls us to this role as sees truthfully who we are, We want to say we are grown up, but Jesus sees we are far from grown up, We need a lot more humility to understand how deeply we are loved and how much grace that is.
